What’s it all about?
The kai map is an initiative by Council to enable the Kai Collective to support our community and whaanau who are in need of some free or low-cost kai.
The Kai Collective in Hamilton Kirikiriroa was established in 2020 in response to COVID-19 and continues to work in collaboration with over 40 key community stakeholders, organisations and communities in support of kai distribution and providing access to kai to people and whaanau in need.
The kai map currently has 48 kai locations and includes information about when and where kai can be collected and what organisation oversees the collection point.
If you know of any paataka kai (food pantries), food banks, community fruit trees or community gardens being developed across the city, we would love to know so we can add these locations to the map. Please email kaimap@hcc.govt.nz if you have anything you want to add to the kai map.
