Step 1: You

What you need to know

Permits

Business and trade applicants can request an extended parking permit to park in the central city. If an application is for a period of more than five working days, then these will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

You can also request a parking hood as part of your permit application if you wish.

Parking hoods

You can use these with vehicles, waste bins (and/or other elements as specified) when they are placed in a parking space. The hoods are displayed while work is in progress. (Work in progress is defined as construction or premises maintenance work, or relocation). A fee for the parking hood is charged.

Conditions and fees

  • Please follow the conditions of your permit and make sure its use, or your activities, do not cause public safety issues.
  • You must display the blue copy of the permit for a reserved parking space at all times, otherwise you risk getting fined.
  • If your hired parking hood is stolen, then you’ll have to pay for its replacement.

What happens next

We’ll be in touch to discuss your application with you, if needed, or we may go ahead and grant it based on the information in your application.

If your application is granted, you can pick up your permit and pay for it (and parking hood, if applicable) at the Customer Services counter. The counter is located on the ground floor of our offices at 260 Angelsea Street and is open between 7.45am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

You can park free for 10 minutes in the car park on Anglesea Street behind our building.
