My first policy is responsible spending. Open the books and do audits open the books. Direct the money to where it should be going, with a rates cap with money going to more important projects. No more money going to pet projects. Rates reform DATI Democracy Accountability Transparency Integrity.
Business development, stimulate the business economy by charging less for rentals. Taking away red tape. Facilitating better, production amongst shopkeepers and businesses throughout Hamilton. We need to revitalise the CBD by allowing two hour parking and encouraging more foot traffic.
Community consultation, speak to organisations and groups helping them to function better, allowing them to promote their causes more readily. I feel Council needs to respond to all the ethnic groups, and artists in Hamilton in order to put the soul back into the city.
2. What is your aspiration for Hamilton Kirikiriroa?
My aspiration is to represent equal access for all people, from different ethnic and religious backgrounds, allowing for cultural and artistic events. We need more people friendly policies, with young and old working together to create greater harmony within the city, alright no.
3. How do you think Council could best use opportunities to meet the key challenges we are facing?
Being honest about the issues facing the city. Prioritising more important, causes over not so important ones. By allowing the people’s voice to operate, we are able to hear the concerns on peoples minds and hearts. The council needs to primarily listen to the people’s voice and carry out their decisions.
4. If there was one thing you could change about Hamilton Kirikiriroa immediately, what would it be?
I would make the city less conservative and more open to all the different types of people, living here. I would set up democratic assemblies expressing the people’s voice and be available 24/7 to listen to the issues that people have then carrying out a policy practically applying what’s needed in each case.
5. What qualities would you bring to Council that will help our city thrive?
I have compassion for those in need and the ability to listen and work together with other people. I am open and keen to talk about issues people want attention brought to.
