Significant change in circumstances
This applies to food businesses operating under a food control plan or a national programme.
When you registered your food business, you provided specific information about how your business operates. Under the Food Act 2014, the operator of a food business must notify the registration authority in writing if a significant change in circumstances occurs.
What is considered a significant change?
A significant change in circumstances includes any change to:
- The name of the operator, including a change of operator
- The trading name of the food business
- The business address
- The physical or electronic address of the operator
- The physical address or location of the food business, or the nominated home base
- The name, position, or designation of the person responsible for day-to-day management of the plan
- The scope of the plan, including changes to the type of food, the nature of the business, or trading operations
- The name of the nominated verifier.

When to notify us
The notification should be lodged before the change occurs, or as soon as practicable after the change, but no later than 10 working days after the change.
