A health registration is confirmation that a business is registered with us. We check that you are operating within acceptable health standards.
Once you are registered, you need to display your certificate of registration and re-register each year.
You must renew this registration before it expires otherwise you will have to pay for a new application.
Who needs a health registration?
Businesses including campgrounds, funeral directors, morgues and offensive trades.
Who doesn’t need a health registration?
Hairdressers and barbering businesses.
Government has revoked the Health (Hairdressers) Regulations 1980 from 31 July 2025, which means you no longer need to register your hairdressing or barbering business with us.
Hairdressers and Barbers must continue to comply with other applicable legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and the Health Act 1956.

Taking over an existing premises?
If you take over an existing premises that is currently registered, you still need to fill out a new registration form and pay the change of occupier fee. It is important that you do this as soon as possible after taking over the premises.
