Clarence St Theatre is the only proscenium arch lyric theatre in Hamilton and is independently owned by Clarence Street Theatre Trust. The focus at Clarence St Theatre is to ensure patrons, users and hirers all have a positive experience.

With a foyer, auditorium, stage, dressings rooms, Green Room, Dance Studio, The Workshop and boardroom, Clarence St Theatre can cater for just about any event or production.

Facilities

Foyer

Our foyer comes as part of the auditorium hire should you require it. Our ticketing office and bar is located behind the counter. It can also be hired for separate corporate events that need a smaller space. It has bathrooms and direct access to the street

Auditorium

Our auditorium is suitable for all events from concerts and full-stage theatre productions to cabaret style corporate events and smaller intimate functions. Included is a fully licensed bar and wheelchair access.

Dressing rooms

These can be included with any hire. If you are hiring the theatre for a performance, these are included at no cost. We have six dressing rooms all with mirrors, chairs, clothing racks and TVs with stage-feed. As part of the downstairs dressing room area, we have showers, toilets and greenroom facilities to cater to performers.

Green Room

Our Green Room is centrally located amongst our dressing rooms and is a frequently utilized hub by cast and crew. It is perfect for pre-show preparations, post-show debriefs or just somewhere for people to relax. Access to the orchestral pit is 4-steps across the hall.

It contains:

A kitchenette with fridge/freezer, wall-mounted instant hot water urn and microwave
Comfortable couches
TV (with stage-feed capability)
Glass dining table with chairs
Electric keyboard

Dance Studio

This is a wooden floored, ballet barred rehearsal space.

Ideal for workshops, rehearsals, pre-show warm-ups and small functions. It comes with a piano for those rehearsal and function sing-alongs. It is equipped with heating/cooling, full length mirrors and a Bluetooth sound system. It is used by a variety of local community groups and is in high demand

The Workshop

This space serves a multi-functional use and is ideal for use for pre-show functions, meetings, after show gatherings or just an extra space for large casts. It could also be used for storage and other workshop requirements (set assembly and wardrobe) for our larger shows. It has been used for added rehearsal space and an additional dressing room area. It is situated next to our dance studio and directly behind our back-of-stage doors for convenient access.
