Flagstaff Park is a commonly booked sports park in the north of Hamilton and is home to the Suburbs Rugby Sports Club. The sports park is also ideal for cricket and soccer games with three sports fields and training lights for night games.
Flagstaff was originally named Dulverton, but officially named Flagstaff in 1986 when it became a suburb. Flagstaff’s name comes from a flagstaff located on the hillock on Sylvester Road. The flag was raised by a local farmer when a steamer passed through to alert authorities in a nearby settlement.
There is access to Flagstaff Park off Commodore Avenue, Endeavour Avenue, Meridian Place, Halcione Close, Azimuth Place, Halyard Close and the Flagstaff Shops (by Skins)

If you’re planning an event with any of items listed below, you’ll only need to apply for an event permit (the park booking will be made as part of this). - inflatables e.g. bouncy castle
- amusement devices
- food for sale, free or fundraising
- amplified sound e.g PA system
- music
- marquee
- stage
- road closure.
