A building warrant of fitness (BWoF) is a statement from a building owner that the building’s life safety systems (called specified systems) have been maintained and checked for the previous 12 months.
Please be aware of independently Qualified Persons (IQP) responsibilities as stated in Section 108A of the Building Act 2004.
If you’re a building owner, you’ll need to renew your BWoF every 12 months.
Your BWoF must:
- be renewed annually on the anniversary of the compliance schedule issue date
- be supplied annually to us before the expiry of the previous BWoF
- be publicly displayed in the building in its up-to-date form.
Find more information on getting a BWoF check out Build Waikato or contact us on building.unit@hcc.govt.nz or 07 838 6677.
