Programme Transport Choices
We’re making safety improvements to Brooklyn Road, to link walkways and cycleways to provide better transport options that are accessible to everyone.
The upgrades include:
The changes will make it easier and safer to move around the city on bikes and scooters by linking key cycle paths between the central city, the university, schools, businesses and people who live on the eastern side of Waikato River.
This project is also part of the Eastern Pathways - Te Ara o te Rawhiti project.
Brooklyn Road will also connect other Council investments such as the new fully inclusive playground in Claudelands Park and the Settlement Centre redevelopment in Boundary Road.
The project is funded by Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency's Transport Choices programme and will help create a connected network across the city, supporting Council's move to a low emissions transport system in response to climate change.
This project is connected to the Heaphy Terrace cycleway and Claudelands Park connections projects.
