Project Summary

What we're doing

We’re upgrading and installing new bus shelters in high-priority sites around Hamilton to improve safety, convenience and comfort for bus passengers.

The upgrades include:

  • replace existing bus shelters with new shelters
  • install bespoke green roof and solar panel shelters in some locations
  • improve kerbs, footpaths and paving.

Why we're doing it

This project is funded by Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency’s Transport Choices programme and it will help create a connected network across the city, supporting Council’s move to a low emissions transport system in response to climate change.

This project will

  • Install new bus shelters

  • Improve safety for passengers

  • Enhance bus services
