Project summary

What we're doing

The Eastern Transport Corridor (ETC) refers to the proposed main arterial route from Ruakura Superhub to the southern end of Fairview Downs.

Council and our partners are working through a Waka Kotahi business case process to identify a preferred design option and investigate the possibility of securing funding from the National Land Transport Fund to assist the next phases of design and delivery. Council has allocated funding for the design of the ETC in the current Long-Term Plan and will progress some of the enabling design works in parallel to the business case process, starting in late 2023.

Why we're doing it

The ETC will connect to the Fifth Avenue extension and, once complete, will help unlock the full development of the Ruakura growth area. It is expected to cater for future rapid public transport, freight, people on bikes and local traffic.
