Project summary

What we're doing

This project is jointly funded by Council and Central Government and involves erosion control work to protect the stream bed and banks, improve the stream habitat, and protect stormwater infrastructure. The project also includes dirt maintenance tracks throughout the gully.

Why we're doing it

We’re committed to shaping a green city. We love our environment and we want to protect it for future generations. The gully’s dirt maintenance tracks will be accessible to the public and will connect to boardwalks being created in a neighbouring wetland.

This project will

  • Promote a sustainable city

  • Embrace our collective roles as kaitiaki (caretakers)

  • Enhance biodiversity in Ruakura

More than 100,000 native plants will be planted through the gully.
