Hamilton Kirikiriroa projected growth
We’ve created a projection of Hamilton’s growth until 2054.
It’s pretty awesome data – the modelling in our dashboard is bespoke for Hamilton and considers local factors to get an accurate projection of growth including:
- our infrastructure plans
- developer intentions in our greenfield areas
- consenting trends in Hamilton.
The outputs shown by this dashboard are used internally to make strategic decisions – let us give you a glimpse into what we view the future as being.
It’s important to note that this is a projection (not a forecast), and the data is based on some high-level assumptions. These assumptions are subject to change based on Council decisions.
Explore the dashboard to see where growth is expected to happen in Hamilton over the next 30 years. Here’s some tips to help you understand the dashboard:
- Greenfield – these are areas in Hamilton where growth is actively happening and there is room for new housing and developments.
- Dwellings – includes houses, flats, townhouses, units and apartments.
- Dates – the dashboard automatically defaults to 2054. If you want to change the year, drag the circles down the bottom right of the population and dwelling sections on the dashboard.
- % change graphs – these show the year-on-year change in dwellings and population in Hamilton. For example, if there were 100 people in Temple View and that increased to 150 the following year, the % change graph would show a 50% increase in population in Temple View.
- Note boundaries used in the dashboard align with StatsNZ boundaries. These differ from boundaries that HCC has obligations for, such as Hamilton’s central city Infrastructure Acceleration Fund area.
