Waikato Regional Economic Development (WRED) group
Economic development is most effective when industry, government and communities partner to create the conditions for business investment. Council staff and other members of WRED provide businesses with coordinated support and a seamless pathway into our regional economy.
A New Perspective
Investment promotion helps position cities as attractive locations for business growth. We created A New Perspective as a tool to showcase our economic strengths and the operational advantages of being a Hamilton-based business.
HCLTech
Our work alongside HCLTech strengthened their market evaluation process and overall assessment of potential office locations, ultimately leading to their decision to reinvest in Hamilton’s central city.
Fieldays 2026
The link between agriculture and innovation has been a central part of Hamilton’s economic landscape for decades and is celebrated annually at Fieldays. It’s the perfect setting to grow business relationships and showcase our city’s value proposition for new investment.
Auckland market visit
Regular engagement with out-of-region businesses across key growth sectors can uncover opportunities and position Hamilton City Council as a proactive partner for businesses looking to expand or relocate.
Land demand study
Strong relationships with current Waikato businesses helped us gather insights from more than 25 companies, strengthening analysis of non-residential development across the city.
Make It Here
This project was an economic development collaboration with Hamilton Kirikiriroa Airport and designed alongside other shareholding councils across the airport. It celebrates Waikato-based businesses and promotes new investment in our region.
