I feel it is useful to keep the left turn into East St when traffic is built up at 5Xroads or the school area, providing alternative approaches to 5Xroads and Heaphy Terrace via on Brooklyn Rd.

I'm not convinced it is necessary and it is an additional expense, however I don't think it will affect traffic much unless it is a silly raised crossing,
