Please share any comments you have about why you chose to support/oppose the different options.
There are options other than those presented. Not every crossing needs lights or to be raised, especially ones that are predominantly used during 2 short windows of time each day.
The reality is that kids will cross outside the crossing no matter how many there are. If another crossing is added by Wilson Street it should be painted only, without traffic lights or traffic calming.
How important or unimportant was retaining parking spaces on Peachgrove Road when deciding your support/opposition to each of the options?
Extremely important
Please share any comments you have about potential reductions to the number of parking spots on Peachgrove Road.
Removal of parking spots will just create more traffic problems on the surrounding residential streets.
For Option 1: Do you support adding raised pedestrian and cycling crossings on nearby streets at an additional $600,000, bringing the total project cost to $5.4m?
No
Please provide any additional comments you may have about raised pedestrian and cycle crossings for Option 1.
The city can't afford this and raised crossing is unnecessary and disruptive to traffic flow.
For Option 2: Do you support adding raised pedestrian and cycling crossings on nearby streets at an additional $300,000, bringing the total project cost to $4.3m?
No
Please provide any additional comments you may have about raised pedestrian and cycle crossings for Option 2.
The city can't afford this and raised crossing is unnecessary and disruptive to traffic flow
For Option 3: Do you support adding a raised pedestrian and cycling crossing on Wilson St at an additional $150,000, bringing the total project cost to $1.2m?
No
Please provide any additional comments you may have about a raised pedestrian and cycle crossing for Option 3.
Having 2 sets of traffic lights in such close proximity will create unnecessary disruption to traffic flow on a major route. Kids are often poor decision makers and some will still choose to cross elsewhere or to cross when the lights are green for traffic anyway.
The crossing by Southall school could also have been installed without lights and if additional signals were being installed anywhere on Peachgrove Rd they should be on the East St intersection.
