The less car parks, the safer it is. I think it is much more appropriate for kids do be dropped off further from school and walk a little of a distance, as cars going in and out are by far the main hazard to the students (doing illegal parking, reckless driving etc). Option 1 and 2 are the the most appropriate option as having improved walking and cycling path is absolutely necessary and highly needed. HBHS has actually made it so that most students on bikes exit via peachgrove. The "bike lanes" being strips of paint on disfunctional roads is simply not protecting students whatsoever, seen as most kids will ride on the footpath, which is far too small at the moment for a street that holds well over 2500 kids a day. Having another crossing across peachgrove (especially by wilson street) is also vital, the only one there is is convenient for peachgrove kids but not Boys high students. Hbhs students are not going to walk ages away to go to a crossing light, so they attempt to dangerously manouver through cars (because there is no other nearby infastructure protecting them). Thank you :)

I would like to acknowledge that accesibility is important for those with kids with disabilities (or families who struggle to get kids to school). Removing most carparks from peachgrove for safety is a comprimise that I beleive is completely worth it. Walking further to get to a destination is not causing any harm. Walking is obviously very good for human's wellbeing and health, body and soul and is unfortunately a rarity for most in car-centric Society. Expecting ample car parking is a privellege that has gone unchecked for too long. Driving to school as a student (living in the city) isnt a neccesetity or a practice that should be welcomed with open arms. Cars are simply innefficient at transporting people places in urban settings in particular, so should not be prioritised over more sustainable modes of transport. Every single day The busses holding up to hundreds of kids wait in traffic that is mostly contained by cars with 2 or even 1 person. it is not fair that a bus should be stuck behind this traffic. discouraging cars access to this section of peachgrove would not only improve safety but reduce travel times of kids taking the bus by tremendous amounts. In fact I would even suggest the idea of having this area of peachgrove having a full modal filter that only allows walking, cycling and busses (at least during school times). This would make peachgrove more safe, accesible and convenient. thank you :)
