Please share any comments you have about why you chose to support/oppose the different options.
Hamilton needs to continue to work steadily towards transportation mode shift. We need to allow options for how people travel and those options need to be safe.
Shifting away from cars and towards public transport, walking, cycling and other active transport modes will save us money, help with climate change, improve community wellness, and quality of life. We are also frankly running out of room for cars which are a massively inefficient way to travel.
How important or unimportant was retaining parking spaces on Peachgrove Road when deciding your support/opposition to each of the options?
Extremely unimportant
Please share any comments you have about potential reductions to the number of parking spots on Peachgrove Road.
It is important to have a drop off for people with disabilities, but outside of that, young people can easily walk from a bit further down the road.
For Option 1: Do you support adding raised pedestrian and cycling crossings on nearby streets at an additional $600,000, bringing the total project cost to $5.4m?
Yes
Please provide any additional comments you may have about raised pedestrian and cycle crossings for Option 1.
It is worth spending the money to save lives and prevent serious injury.
For Option 2: Do you support adding raised pedestrian and cycling crossings on nearby streets at an additional $300,000, bringing the total project cost to $4.3m?
Yes
Please provide any additional comments you may have about raised pedestrian and cycle crossings for Option 2.
If you want kids (and others passing through) to walk and cycle, they will only do it if it is safe. Walking and cycling infrastructure costs money, but is a lot cheaper than continuing to try and accommodate cars.
For Option 3: Do you support adding a raised pedestrian and cycling crossing on Wilson St at an additional $150,000, bringing the total project cost to $1.2m?
Yes
Please provide any additional comments you may have about a raised pedestrian and cycle crossing for Option 3.
Safety first. Also, getting people walking and cycling will get cars off the road and improve traffic flow.
