| Thinking about potential mergers with other councils, what, if any, concerns do you have? |
That regional council functions will be overlooked in a new system geared towards economic development and growth. Regional council functions are very important and a considered plan for integration is needed. It will be important not to assume that district council staff can pick up these functions, it is a highly specialized space and must be done well.
Also need an efficient structure. The size and functioning of Auckland Council for example presents challenges. |
