| Thinking about potential mergers with other councils, what, if any, opportunities do you see? |
I see HCC and Waikato DC working well, and having Waipa would also benefit. Thus is essentially the lower waikato catchent. My concerns come when regional functions must occur cross catchment and there is no regional council to catch all. However, a full region wide unitary i beleive would be very difficult to manage and local voice will likely get lost. An example may be the plan change one and hiw that would fit/be regulated across multiple unitaries.
