Thinking about potential mergers with other councils, what, if any, opportunities do you see?
One would hope that amalgamation would result in savings not only of money but time. Fewer steps to get approval and better oversight affording less duplication of activities.
Thinking about potential mergers with other councils, what, if any, concerns do you have?
Obviously with amalgamation there is a strong likelihood of staff duplication and therefore redundancy. These situations will need to be handled fairly and sensitively. Also individual area interests can not be lost as the larger organization looks at broader issues. Conversely local interests cannot impede benefits for the entire population.
Are you giving feedback on behalf of an organisation?
