Better coordination and capability to manage interconnected systems. E.g. public transport, cycling infrastructure etc. Especially if "Hamilton" will grow, to encourage some of that growth to spill into centres within the wider regional area due to good connectivity.

Balancing the loss of local voices through decreasing representation (councillor per capita), with loss of efficiency by excessively large councils by too many wards. The council decisions affect people more immediately and directly than central government, and they need to remain accountable & representative of their areas and key population groupings.
