Your Neighbourhood - Election 2025 edition
Free event for the whole family
Saturday 27 September 10am – 1pm
Garden Place and Civic Square, Hamilton Kirikiriroa
Join us for a special edition of Your Neighbourhood focused on the upcoming Hamilton City Council election and binding Maaori Ward poll. This free community event is a great opportunity to learn more about Council services and meet the candidates.
You’ll be able to:
- listen to the Mayoral Q&A (11am – 12pm, free entry with limited tickets (100 available) and a livestream option for additional viewers)
- enjoy a free sausage sizzle
- meet the candidates
- vote on site
- learn about upcoming Council projects
- bring tamariki to the kids zone – face painting, bubbles, a bouncy castle, a mini ferris wheel, and more!
- Support our great local cafés by grabbing a bite to eat.
See you there, rain or shine!
Mayoral Q&A
Come along to hear from the Mayoral candidates. It is a ticketed event with limited seats (100 available), so you will need to book in.
If you miss out on a ticket to the event, the Q&A will be livestreamed at the Central Library and on our Facebook page.
There will be a presenter asking the Mayoral candidate questions, so you won’t need to prepare you own. If you have candidate questions, you’ll be able to do this at the informal Candidate Café meet and greet in Garden Place.
Note: Placards and signs will not be allowed at the event.

Our mobile voting station will be there from 10am – 12pm for you to drop off your vote or make a special vote.
Event details
Saturday 13 September, 10am – 12pm at Bremworth Park
Saturday 20 September, 10am – 12pm at Innes Common

Wednesday 1 October, 10am – 12pm at Korikori Park
Sunday 5 October, 10am – 12pm at Steele Park
It's the most fun you can have for free in your neighbourhood. At these events, we're more about showing than telling. You can learn about alcohol safety by wearing beer goggles and playing a throwing game. Or hop inside one of our diggers, and have a go at the controls. Get inside the enclosures of Hamilton Zoo with our Virtual Reality headsets. Get your face painted, grab some kai, and listen to the music. Win prizes, learn a thing or two, and chat to the people who keep our city running.
