Kirikiriroa is very important to my whaanau. We have attended School and Tertiary institutions here. We work here. We live here.
Passionately involved with our community as a parent, volunteer, sports coach, School Board member and Presiding School Board Member.
Standing for: Mana Motuhake for ourselves, our whaanau, our hapori, our environment.
Seeking to: engage and participate with Mana Whenua and Iwi Māori.
Focus: strengthen our communities; supporting education and training pathways for our tamariki and rangatahi; advocating for housing needs and aspirations of our people.
Acknowledging: Kaumatua and Kuia.

What would be your top three priorities for Council in the next three years? Describe what you want Hamilton Kirikiriroa to be in 10 years' time.

  • Rates assurance
  • Advocating housing – development and access
  • Strengthen communities to:
    - support education pathways for Tamariki and Rangatahi
    - care for and remember our connection to the Taiao
  • Financial sustainability for the City and individual households.
  • Meet the requirements of an increasing Māori population. We need housing and
communities that meet the needs of whaanau. A city that supports the raising of
children in an environment that grows and inspires.

What is the most important opportunity Hamilton Kirikiriroa should explore to mitigate climate change?

Be prepared. Keep our Awa, the Waikato River, at the forefront of our minds. Support work and efforts on infrastructure, networks and partnerships for water retention and reticulation. Utilise whenua and wetlands effectively. Identify the benefits of planting more native bush.

If there was one thing you could change about Hamilton Kirikiriroa immediately, what would it be?

Increase participation of Tangata Whenua in community consultation, feedback and decision making. Let’s vote. All the candidates want the best for Kirikiriroa and our whaanau.

What qualities would you bring to Council that will help our city thrive?

Values and actions that I seek after: whakawhaanautanga; integrity; respect; persistence; Mana Motuhake for ourselves, for our whaanau for our hapori.
