The Strategic Growth Committee balances how growth is funded, ensures the right data for planning, and enhances collaboration across the wider region to develop a cohesive approach to growth.

The Strategic Growth Committee:

  • provides oversight for strategic land-use planning, boundary alignment, and existing and alternative planning, funding and financing models for growth-related projects
  • drives collaboration with neighbouring councils, iwi, private sector and central government to meet Hamilton’s growth ambitions 
  • considers the environmental impacts of urban development and develops Infrastructure Activity Management Plans for the Long-Term Plan
  • providing direction on how Hamilton’s infrastructure network is prioritised to align with a growing city
  • oversees the Development Contributions and Growth Funding policies.
