Every year we adjust our hours over the Christmas and New Year period. Of course, many of our wonderful people still work in essential community services to keep our city running over the holidays.

Hamilton City Council services
Municipal Building Customer Services
Closes at 3pm Friday 23 December 2022 and re-opens at 7.45am Monday 9 January 2023.
Call Centre
Answering phones (07 838 6699), email, and social media queries throughout. Any non-urgent enquiries can be sent to info@hcc.govt.nz or by using the Antenno app, however the response time may be delayed.
Rubbish and Recycling
No changes to kerbside collections due to Christmas and New Year holidays. Put your bins out on your normal collection day by 7am.
Wickham Street Organic Centre
Closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Lincoln Street Resource Recovery Centre
Closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day. It will be open 9am to 4pm on other public holidays.
Property File requests
Closes on Friday 23 December 2022 and re-opens Monday 9 January 2023. Last day to submit is Monday 19 December 2022.
Land Information Memorandum (LIM) reports
Closes on Friday 23 December 2022 and re-opens 9 January 2023. LIMS will cut off from 12 December 2022 for express and standard.
Lincoln Street Habitat for Humanity Reuse Store
Closes on Friday 23 December 2022 and re-opens 9am to 3pm Wednesday 28 December. Closes Friday 30 December at 3pm and re-opens Monday 2 January 2023 (normal trading hours).
Building Consenting
Closes Tuesday 20 December 2022 and restarts Tuesday 10 January 2023. Last day for submitting Urgent Code Compliance Certificates is Wednesday 21 December. A limited number of Building Inspections will be available between 28–30 December 2022 and 4–6 January 2023. Please contact the call centre to make a booking.
Planning Consenting
Closes on Friday 23 December 2022 and re-opens Monday 9 January 2023.
Animal Education and Control
Closes on Sunday 25 December and re-opens Tuesday 27 December. Closes Sunday 1 January and opens Tuesday 3 January. Animal Education and Control Officers are on duty throughout. On 25 December (Christmas Day), the on-duty officer will respond to urgent matters and public safety issues only. Call 07 838 6632 if you have any concerns.
