Inflatable race at Waterworld

Don’t miss the popular inflatable race challenge at Waterworld on Wednesday 9 October between 12pm – 2pm.

This race is part of the fun-filled school holiday activities Hamilton Pools will host between 30 September – 13 October 2024. Come join in on the action, with opportunities to win prizes.

Gardens hidden adventure for kids

Embark on an enchanting journey through Hamilton Gardens with the new kid’s activity sheet. Discover the wonder of the Enclosed Gardens, tackling fun tasks and uncovering hidden gems along the way. When finished, adventurers will gain their official Garden Bud or Garden Ranger badge.   

The Garden Bud activity sheet is best for kids aged 3-6 years, and the Garden Rangers sheet is best for kids aged 6-10 years. Collect yours free with entry to the Enclosed Gardens from the Gallagher Visitor Centre.

All under 16s have free entry to the Enclosed Gardens, as do Hamilton rate payers and residents. 


Lake views and lots to do

Innes Common is a prime-spot for amazing views across Lake Rotoroa (Hamilton Lake). With a playground, parkour training area (the first of its kind in Hamilton), barbeques, a basketball half-court, and plenty of green space where you can run around and play, there really is lots to do. 


Free school holiday art class

Chartwell Library is hosting a free art class for 7-14-year-olds on Tuesday 1 October between 10.30am – 11.30am. Your child will learn the basics of drawing with acrylic paint, proportions and composition. 
This is a chance for the kids to learn new skills with all the materials provided. Please register at hamiltonlibraries.co.nz as spaces are limited. Children under 14 must always be accompanied by a caregiver in our libraries. 

 

Harry Potter’s wizarding world for kids

Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin - which house would you be sorted into? Come to the Libraries’ Harry Potter-themed events, where you can celebrate your love for all things Harry Potter and discover more about the wizarding world.

We're turning 140

On 10 October, it’s Hamilton City Libraries’ 140th birthday. Explore the history of the libraries through a display on Level 3, Central Library, via our website or through the oral history collection. 

 

 Get on your bike this Biketober

Biketober, a month-long festival of cycling, is filled with ways to support and motivate you to give biking a go.  


Council, Hamilton Libraries, and Go Eco will be holding a series of Biketober events and activities in Hamilton in October for all ages and abilities – this includes school holiday ‘Kids on bikes’ sessions, bike check workshops, and more.

Explore a glimpse of ancient Aotearoa

Te Papanui, also known as Jubilee Park and Claudelands Bush, is one of the last pockets of original forest in Hamilton.


Check out the beautiful remnant kahikatea forest of just over 5ha in the middle of Hamilton. The path is a raised boardwalk so great for kids and

pushchairs.

Disguise learning with fun  

Exscite is a hands-on space where tamariki can play and learn through tactile and immersive surroundings. Connect the circuit wall to make the lights sparkle, use the touchscreen colouring activity to see manu (birds) fly in a digital forest, or gather around the firepit to share stories. There's always something to discover. 

As part of their school holiday fun Exscite are hosting the Bricks for Kidz. This epic holiday programme is perfect for children aged 5-12 years old. Children can join for $75 per day, 9am – 4pm or the full week (Monday to Friday), 9am – 4pm for $350. Booking is essential, register your child via waikatomuseum.co.nz   

Visit Exscite at the Waikato Museum via the river-facing entrance side while the main entrance is closed.   

Admission:
Adult $5, child (3-15 years) $10, child 2 years and under – free, Family Pass (two adults and up to four children) $29.
